This Conflict of Interest Policy applies to all members of the Board of Directors of the Yukon Gymnastic Association.
This Conflict of Interest Policy has been established in recognition that the gymnastics community in Yukon is small, and that members of the Board of Directors of the Yukon Gymnastic Association are all likely to have family members participating in the sport and benefiting from the Yukon Gymnastic Association’s decisions.
ALL BOARD MEMBERS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE DECISIONS THAT:
- Meet the overall goals and mission statement of the Yukon Gymnastic Association and not that of any individual athlete, coach, official or volunteer.
- Will demonstrate the ability to withstand public scrutiny.
A CONFLICT OF INTEREST ARISES WHEN A BOARD MEMBER:
- Allows his/her decisions to be guided by their own personal interests or beliefs, rather than those of the Yukon Gymnastic Association.
- May gain, or be perceived to gain, any financial benefit from their involvement with the Yukon Gymnastic Association.
Should such a conflict of interest arise, the individual is expected to disclose the conflict and must refrain from voting on the issue before the Board.
Should other Board Members feel that a conflict of interest exists for a fellow Board Member, he/she must bring the suspected conflict to the Board for a review. If the review reveals that a conflict of interest exists and was not disclosed by the Board Member, the Board Member with the conflict will refrain from voting on the issue.
Notwithstanding the above, in the event of a Board Member’s serious or continued conflict of interest, he/she may be suspended and/or terminated from the Board by a majority vote of the other Members.
Need to clarify this. Other members of the board or Other members of the membership.
