Access and Equity Policy Statement
Yukon Gymnastic Association recognizes that in order to achieve its goal of excellence, it needs to provide an environment and related support mechanisms which encourage all potential participants in gymnastics, regardless of their background and personal circumstances, to participate and achieve their full potential in the sport.
To help it achieve both of these goals, Yukon Gymnastic Association has established an Access and Equity Policy and is enacting a number of initiatives in this area.
A commitment has been made by Yukon Gymnastic Association ensuring that access and equity is reflected in program delivery and in its day to day operation by:
- Ensuring access to, and utilization of, Yukon Gymnastic Association programs by women, First Nation’s people, people with disabilities and other minority groups;
- Equipping Yukon Gymnastic Association executive members and staff to be responsive to the needs and issues of participants in gymnastics from this group; and
- Raising awareness of Yukon Gymnastic Association members, executive members and staff of discrimination as an industrial issue.
The above objectives are addressed in Yukon Gymnastic Association program planning and operation by:
- Encouraging members of the Yukon Gymnastic Association Executive and Board of Directors to attend all workshops dealing with related matters that are offered;
- Developing an environment that is more inclusive by implementing policies that discourage practices of intolerance and educate Yukon Gymnastic Association members.
